The parents of this cutie found me looking for a professional baby photographer for their One Year Birthday Baby Girl Photos in Minneapolis, MN. This was such a cute and fun one-year birthday milestone photoshoot! She was a little bit shy at first, but still smiling for her photos.

When babies come to the studio, you never know how they’ll react. The “office” a baby ever sees is the doctor’s office, so I try to make it a comfortable and fun environment for the kids as soon as they come in the door.

I always encourage parents of the little ones to bring in a lovey (a special toy or blanket) if they have one. But the one thing that always works to get those smiles without fail – your kiddo’s favorite YouTube music video. I can’t tell you how much Baby Shark I’ve listened to over the years, but hey, whatever works!

Mom and Dad broke out their sweet baby girl’s favorite Dora the Explorer video, complete with music, and of course, it brought out the best smiles and a little wiggle as she liked to dance to the music, too.

We also played a few rounds of peek a boo! I haven’t met a baby yet that doesn’t like that game.

The one thing she was not a fan of was the paper confetti mom brought to sprinkle over her during some of her photos. She was downright mad about it, so we moved on from that pretty quickly. It did make for some really funny photos, though!

We planned for a boho-themed cake smash in addition to her one-year portraits. Luckily, I was able to find a backdrop that fit perfectly with their vision from Intuition Backgrounds. My go-to backdrop supplier.

She wasn’t a fan of the cake either and only ate a little bit of frosting before deciding she was over it. She did look pretty darn cute, though! Again, you just never know how a baby will react to the cake. It’s mostly the sticky frosting they have issues with. I always recommend having your baby try cake with frosting before the photoshoot so they know what they’re getting into.
