They say the days are long, but the years are short. As a mother, you know this is more than just a cliché—it’s a reality you feel in your soul. Through the exhausting nights and the beautiful “baby fog,” it’s hard to imagine these moments ending. And then, suddenly, they do.
That is when you’ll reach for their baby album or look to the portraits on your walls. You’ll realize that those “long days” were actually the most precious days of your life. I don’t just take photos; I preserve the moments you’ll eventually search for.
Alicea Tomshine is an award-winning professional portrait photographer in Minneapolis, MN, specializing in maternity, newborn, and baby milestone photography. With over a decade and a half of experience and specialized newborn safety training, she blends technical mastery with a mother’s intuition.
Originally from Coon Rapids and a former resident of Anoka, Alicea now lives in Maple Grove with her husband, son, and 8-year-old rescue pup.

I’m Alicea—a photographer with over 15 years of experience, a mom, and someone who understands how fragile and precious these early days truly are.
My perspective on motherhood was forever changed when my son was born and diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 2 weeks old. That journey reshaped the way I see time and connection. I know what it’s like to hold your breath, to worry, and to want to soak in every single detail because you know how quickly things can change.
That lived experience is at the heart of my work. I bring a calm, patient, and baby-led approach to every session. Whether you’re coming to my Plymouth, MN baby & family photography studio or meeting you at your home or a local park, I provide a safe, supportive space—especially for parents who are already carrying a lot. You don’t need a “perfect” plan; I’ll gently guide you through it all so you can simply be present with your baby.

I seriously loved my experience as a toddler and infant teacher. It’s something I may possibly go back to after I “retire”.
