Mommy and Me Maternity Photography Session in Minneapolis, MN

This was the first time I’ve ever done a beautiful mommy and me maternity photography session and I can’t wait to do more!

I’ve been a professional photographer since 2011 and I’ve never had a maternity session (or any session) where it’s been just mom and child. I’ve done photo shoots of just mom-to-be alone, but typically it’s mom and spouse/partner with their children and/or pets.

It was so much fun having a dress-up session like this one! The first outfit was used at the studio for a few quick shots before we headed outside to the park in Plymouth. The park is just a quick 15-minute drive from my studio in Brooklyn Park.

Both mom and daughter looked gorgeous in their green dresses for the studio shots. What a perfect color for this time of year as I could see both being used again for a fancy Christmas party.

Before we left the studio they changed into perfect white lacy dresses for the outdoor part of the maternity session. You can never go wrong with white or off-white/cream for outdoor photos. The contrast is always so pretty, especially at sunset.

Mom specifically wanted a sunset session because, well, why wouldn’t you? It’s the absolute best time of day to shoot a portrait session. This time of year shooting at sunset works great around little one’s bedtimes because we can shoot at 4 pm and still get home before dinner. No need to worry about keeping the kiddos out too late. We also lucked out with decent weather for late October. It was just a little chilly but definitely tolerable.
