First Birthday Cake Smash – Brooklyn Park Baby Photographer

First Birthday Cake Smash – Brooklyn Park Baby Photographer

If you’re looking for a Brooklyn Park Baby Photographer, don’t hesitate to reach out to me for your baby’s milestone photos! Baby milestone photos can take place anytime in your baby’s first year, but often most milestones are photographed at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months.

Why? Because babies hit some major milestones around these times.

At 3 months old, your baby is getting a handle on tummy time and developing those strong neck and back muscles. Getting ample tummy time in during the day is a great exercise for your baby! Holding that big head up is one of the first developmental milestones your baby will master.

Around 3-4 months old is also when your baby will start smiling back at you at something that actually makes them happy! I remember the first time my son smiled when he was 3 months old. His dad was playing with him with a toy he loved at the time and he gave him a great big smile. Of course, having my camera at the ready, I caught that magic moment in time!

Another milestone your baby may or may not hit is rolling over. Usually, they roll over from their tummy to their back since it’s easier for them to push off on their arm. Roling from their back to their tummy takes place a little later as a little more muscle and coordination are involved.

At 6 months old your baby will start to sit up on their own using new muscles in their legs and back. Most babies need a little help with this using a boppy pillow or something for them to propped up on. Over time and with practice every day, those muscles start to develop and get a little stronger and soon they can lose the pillow. They might “tripod” for a while using one arm to keep them upright until they are strong enough to stay up for a long time.

They’ll usually start to sit up completely unassisted around 7-8 months old and this is when I advise my clients to schedule their baby photography session. Also around this time, your baby will start to crawl! Time to put up those baby gates, baby door locks, and locks on the kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors and drawers.

The next major milestone happens around 8-10 months when your baby will start to pull themselves up to a standing position holding on to furniture. This is known as “cruising”. My son used to love to pull books down from the bookshelves at this stage! It might be time to put things out of reach for a while.

Here’s a fun fact for ya! Did you know babies’ kneecaps are only made of cartilage until around age 2?

Soon your little one will be walking! But that’s ok if they’re not quite yet. And remember every baby develops at their own pace. Have you ever seen an adult just crawling along on the floor? No silly. All babies walk and talk eventually – when they’re good and ready.

The last milestone is the First Birthday at 12 months old! Some babies are walking and doing a little bit of talking and some aren’t and that’s perfectly ok. Whatever your baby is doing at that age, it’s worth documenting with milestone baby photos.

Here’s a share from a recent First Birthday Cake Smash session with me, a Brooklyn Park Baby Photographer. I have a studio located in Brooklyn Park and it’s a perfect little spot for baby and family photos.

We started with family photos and then some portraits of mom with baby and dad with baby. Mom brought a few outfits for her little man, too, sticking to the same colors we’ve used for his newborn photos, 4 month photos, 8 month photos and now his one year photos.

We ended with a cake smash using the beautiful balloon garland mom made and brought to the studio. How cute is that?

I just love these images and I’ve had such a great time working with this family over the past year! If you’d like images just like these for your baby photo album or your walls at home, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me today!

Why You’ll LOVE My Baby Photography Studio

Why You’ll LOVE My Baby Photography Studio

There are so many reasons why I think you’ll love my baby photography studio. It’s done right by me and my newborn and baby photography clients for many years. Here are my top reasons why:

  1. Indoor and Outdoor Portrait Options. Having your baby photos taken in my studio means lots and lots of variety! In the spring, summer, and fall there is the option of going outdoors for photos just behind my building. It’s a fantastic little area with tall trees, grasses, and wildflowers.
  2. Everything is all on one level. There are no stairs or elevators to deal with at my studio. This makes it much easier to wheel in the stroller for your newborn and baby photography session with me. You walk right in the front door of my building and my studio is the first door on your right.
  3. Free parking. Because my studio is nestled in a suburb of Minneapolis, there’s no need to worry about where to park your car and how much it’s going to cost you. There is free and ample parking at my Baby Photography Studio. Most sessions take place on the weekends, so you’ll have plenty of parking spots to choose from. Most likely right by the door.
  4. Vending machines. My building has vending machines on site making it easy to get a bottle of water or snacks (although I do provide these if you need them). So many of my newborn photography and baby photography clients don’t have time to eat breakfast before coming to the studio. I provide granola bars, kind bars, and fruit snacks for the kids. If you want something different, just head down to the vending machines!
  5. Location, location, location. My studio is located in the Northwest Metro of the Minneapolis area and is super easy to get to and find. It’s just off Hwy 694 and Boone Ave or Hwy 169 and Elm Creek Blvd/Brooklyn Blvd. It’s in a quiet little business park with a few other photographers and other small businesses. It’s also just 5 minutes east of downtown Maple Grove, making it easy to grab lunch after your session.

I’d love to have you, your baby, and your family at my baby photography studio for some updated milestone and family portraits! Please reach out to me today to schedule your session!

Twin Cities MN One Year Baby Photographer

Twin Cities MN One Year Baby Photographer

I love being a Twin Cities MN one year baby photographer. I meet so many wonderful families from all over Minnesota. Most of my clients come to me as maternity or newborn clients, but on occasion, I get a handful of clients who find me after the newborn phase and are looking for milestone photos of their babies.

This family found me (and I’m so, so glad they did) after their original photographer suddenly became unavailable to take their son’s one-year photos. It happens, I get it, especially in these weird covid times.

After chatting on the phone, Mom explained she was feeling a bit under pressure as she had planned this photoshoot several weeks (months?) in advance with the other photographer. Her son’s birthday party was just a few weeks away and she had wanted photos for the party.

As luck would have it, I happened to have an immediate opening that worked with her schedule. This was fate (not to mention her son and my son both share the same name). Was it fate or kismet? 🙂

We had a great session together and Mom loved her photos!

“Hi Alicea,
I’m so sorry I’m just getting back to you now, it’s been a crazy busy week! But thank you so much for the pictures!! We just love them and can’t wait for our prints to get here! It was really nice working with you, too! 🙂
Thanks again!”
