This little guy was just 7 days old for his studio newborn photography session. He was wide awake for the first half of his session, which was fine because he was so chill. He gave the best eye contact and facial expressions, which I love capturing when babies are awake for part of their newborn photography session.
This family came all the way from Chaska, MN to see me at my newborn and baby studio in Brooklyn Park, MN. We had also planned ahead of time to do the posed newborn photos in my studio and the family photos in their home. Mom was really set on having family and newborn photos taken in the nursery, which honestly, I can’t blame her for. Capturing those first sweet days in the nursery is so special. You won’t believe how quickly the smallest changes happen to your baby’s room. All of a sudden the crib is a toddler bed and diaper genies and changing tables are a thing of the past.
This is why I do what I do. I want to help my exhausted and busy parents take a moment to really cherish this time with their babies. They do so much growing and changing in that first year; literally from one week to the next. Once those moments are gone, you can never get them back. Once the nursery changes, once they pop that first tooth, once they start walking…grab those moments and cherish those memories while you can.
The one piece of advice I can give to new parents (besides hiring me as your baby’s photographer) is to take videos as much as you can! My son is now 12 years old and he still loves watching videos of himself as a baby; maybe as much as I do. Hearing his little voice and the baby sounds he made just brings it all back like it was yesterday (the good, the bad, and the ugly). Totally worth it!
