It was so much fun working with this expecting couple on their Minneapolis Maternity Photography! The session took place at my portrait studio last month. We got such great variety by going outdoors at the studio for the first half of the session. Then we ended with some traditional beautiful studio maternity portraits. They are the most joy-filled couple and they literally couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. I have a hunch they’re excited about this baby!

It was forecasted to rain that morning. And it was looking pretty dark and cloudy by the time the session started. After they changed clothes, we quickly went behind the studio. Behind the studio is an area of tall grass and trees. We were hoping we’d get a few shots there before it started to rain.

We got incredibly lucky! Right as we finished up and were walking back into the building it started to rain. And it rained hard!

On days like these I’m incredibly grateful to have my studio. We finished up the rest of session with some gorgeous photos of them in traditional Minneapolis Maternity Photography. We used a backlit background and a grey background that left mama-to-be looking stunning! Backlit images in the studio are quickly becoming a favorite of mine and my clients.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing them again next month after they deliver their baby. We’re booked for a lifestyle newborn session at their home to document this wonderful occasion.
