Newborn photography sessions are offered in both posed and lifestyle formats. Posed Newborn photos are best done in the first 2 weeks after birth and are always done in the comfort of your home. You’ll have easy access to everything you need to care for your little one during the session and you’ll be more comfortable at home, too. My newborn studio set-up travels with me where ever I go and can easily be set up in a spare bedroom, living room or dining room area. Lifestyle Newborn photos can be done at home or in the studio while the Fresh 48 Newborn photos take place in the hospital (done within 2 days of birth). I have extensive experience and training working with newborns to always make sure they are comfortable and safe during the session. During the pre-session consultation, we’ll also discuss ways you can ease in this process before and during the session.
Baby photography sessions are a great way to capture your little one at any stage or phase during their first year of life. Milestones typically start around 3-4 months when they start to keep their head up at tummy time and smile at your silly faces and sounds. They hit another milestone around 6-7 months when they can sit on their own unassisted and may even begin to crawl. At around 9-10 months they should be crawling and possibly cruising (walking around furniture while still holding on). By 1 year of age, your baby may be walking. Regardless of what developmental milestone your baby hits, every age and stage is a treasure to capture. These sessions can be done just about anywhere, however most popular are outdoor sessions when the weather cooperates, or at the studio.
Maternity photography sessions are a wonderful way to capture a very fleeting time in your life. Around 7-8 months is an ideal time to have your maternity photos taken. Your baby belly should be nice and round, but you won’t be at that point of being extremely uncomfortable. These sessions include family and/or pets and are a fun way to incorporate ultrasound photos, baby shoes and any other items that may have significance to you. Sunset sessions are one of my favorite way to capture this time, however, due to Minnesota’s inclement weather in the late fall and winter, a studio session is always a great option and I guarantee you’ll look just as radiant and beautiful there, too.
