I absolutely love providing in home newborn photography to my clients.  I think it’s by far the easiest and most relaxing way to enjoy the benefits of a “studio session” in the privacy and comfort of your own home.

I remember after my son was born, I was recovering from a c-section, a severe lack of sleep, and my poor baby was dealing with a variety of medical issues.  I was literally running all round the Twin Cities area with my newborn in tow for medical appointments several times a week and it sucked.

He HATED being in his car seat.  He was born in early August and being in a car seat, all confined and sweaty (even with the A/C on in the car) was clearly not his idea of a good time as he wailed and cried as we drove around to appointment after appointment.  Then there was dealing with traffic, heavy downpours of rain, finding parking/paying for parking, waiting for the doctors while keeping him calm and happy the best that I could.  All the time thinking “I just want to go home.”

I had one nurse, Sally, that was assigned to him for his monthly RSV shot during the Fall/Winter.  She would travel to my home for his appointments.  Sally was able to bring everything with her, all of the medical equipment necessary, to do his check-up and shot right there in my living room.  It was heaven.  Not having to deal with snowy/icy roads, traffic jams, waiting rooms, parking ramps, etc., etc. was pure heaven on earth.  Having someone travel to me for a change was such a fantastic relief.  I wished every doctor and nurse could do the same (I’m pretty sure once upon a time they did).  It would have made my life back then a heck of a lot easier.

This is why I do what I do.  I’ve been there.  I know how hard it is.  I wanted something to be easy, even if it was just one thing.  She was that one thing.  And I was grateful.  I actually enjoyed her visits and looked forward to having her to my home.
