Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to schdedule maternity photos?

The best time to schedule your maternity photos is between 30-34 weeks. Around that time you’ll have a nice-sized baby belly, but shouldn’t be too uncomfortable. Often times swelling kicks in in the last month of pregnancy, so it’s best to have your photos taken before 36 weeks.

What should I wear for my maternity photos?

Pinterest is a great resource for what-to-wear guides! This is a personal choice and preference, however, this is what I recommend:

  • wear what’s comfortable – you’ll look and feel your best in clothing that fits well
  • dress for the weather and the season – avoid layers in the summer, but feel free to layer up for fall
  • solid colors and simple patterns like plaids and florals photograph the best
  • coordinate your outfits with 2-3 colors, but avoid matching outfits
  • avoid neon colors, logos, and anything with writing on it

You can always reach out as I’m happy to help when it comes to selecting outfits for your session!

Can I bring personal props to my maternity photo session?

Yes, absolutely! I encourage the use of props if they’re meaningful to you.

Ultrasound photos, baby shoes, knitted blankets, baby outfits, and books can personalize your maternity photos while capturing these sentimental items long after your baby has outgrown them.

How many outfits can I bring to my maternity photo session?

Most of my clients bring two different outfits to their maternity photo session with me. One outfit can be more dressy while the other can be more casual. Or, you can bring two different dresses for variety. This is especially useful when having both an indoor and outdoor photoshoot at the studio.

What if I deliver my baby before the scheduled maternity session date?

Unfortunately, we can’t go back in time, so it’s highly advised that you plan to schedule your session when you’re 30-34 weeks into your pregnancy. I have had a handful of mamas deliver their babies around 5-6 weeks early. In that case, the session fee can be transferred to another session.

Can my kids and pets come along for the photos?

Absolutely! Your spouse or partner, your children, and your family pets are welcome to your maternity photoshoot. As a mom and dog owner myself, I love working with kids and pets!
