I love First Birthday Cake Smash Photos!
This little girl has been such a treat to photograph over this past year. She was an amazing baby for her newborn photos and quite the little ham at her 6 month photos. At her one year photos a few weeks ago we were lucky to have Dad be able to join in for the family photos and her first birthday cake smash photos. He wasn’t able to make it to the 6 month shoot because of his busy work schedule, so it was nice to see him again!

Isn’t she the cutest? Mom picked out some cute outfits for the photos. We actually got through 5 outfits by the end of the shoot.

Before we get to the cake smash photos I just want to give a huge shoutout to Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe in Hopkins, MN. Mom had emailed me a week or so before the photos telling me she was having a hard time finding a baker to make the cake for the cake smash photos. Everyone she called said they were booked out and couldn’t do it. Luckily Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe came to the rescue and made the gorgeous multicolored rose cake for the big day. Mom specifically wanted colors in pale pink, lavender and cream and Amy’s pulled it off beautifully!

I usually don’t do big extravagant set ups for my first birthday photos. But when mom sent me pictures of what she wanted I couldn’t resist with getting some flowers and balloons to match the color scheme. I think they worked out perfectly and were an exact match to the cake colors. I picked up the balloons at Party City in Maple Grove before heading down to the studio (they were able to accommodate me with a last minute order). And the flowers I bought on Amazon. I plan to also buy the similar purple and cream flower bouquets as well. I think they’ll both look great in some upcoming newborn and baby photos.
I’m so happy this family chose me to document this past year of baby milestones for them! I can’t wait to start working on her First Year Album.
