I’m so excited to share this session, which was my last session of 2014. And I’ll be honest, I didn’t know if or when this session was going to happen.
Mom had contacted me in the Fall looking to schedule a Family Photo Session with her husband and 2 boys. In the past, they had photos taken in the Summer, in the Spring and in the Fall by other photographers in other cities as they have moved quite a bit for her husband’s job. She wasn’t 100% sure she wanted another Fall photo session, and since they were now living in Minnesota, she thought maybe a winter snow session would fun! Sounded good to me, too, so we settled on a date in November for their session.
This past winter in MN was a bit more unusual than other winters. This one was very cold, but not as snowy. In fact, on the days we had planned to have their session during the month of November, there was practically no snow at all. Mom decided to wait and hold out for that snow, since now taking photos outside wouldn’t be nearly as nice with nothing but dead trees and grass all around. As it inched closer and closer to December I was getting a little nervous we’d be having a brown Christmas here this year. Not entirely unusual, since I’m pretty sure that’s what we had the year before. Luckily a couple weeks into December we finally received the big snowfall we had been waiting for. I received an e-mail the following morning after the last of the snow had fallen asking if I was available that day, which I was, and we set on meeting up that afternoon for their session.
It was perfect. Beautiful fresh, white snow had fallen over the park, the sun was shining and the temps were just right. This family had a crazy fun time playing in the snow and I have no doubt these photos will bring back such great memories for them and their time here in Minnesota (should they ever move again).
