My most favorite time of year to photograph maternity sessions is in the late summer. July and August have by far the most beautiful sunsets. It made the perfect backdrop for these beautiful and romantic summer sunset maternity photos.

I have a favorite location where I love taking maternity photos. This spot just happened to be right near this gorgeous couple’s home in Plymouth, MN. It’s where I’ve been shooting for over 12 years now. I know this location inside and out and know exactly where the sun will be at any time of year.

This park also features wooden docks, a pond, a lake, a beach area, a covered bridge, and wildflowers. It really is the perfect backdrop for beautiful and romantic summer sunset maternity photos in the Minneapolis area.

While this park is wonderful for evening pregnancy photos it’s also great in the morning, too. If you’re not wanting to wait until sunset for your maternity photos, a morning session is also a great option. This is especially true if you have little kids joining in on the session.

Summer sunset maternity sessions typically start around 7:30 pm, so that could be pushing the bedtime for the littles. Morning sessions can start as early as 9 am. Toddlers are typically a little happier this time of day.

Did you know you can also bring your pets to your maternity session? I love working with dogs, since I have a pup at home myself. Our furbabies are often time are first “babies”. They are family and deserve to be included. Pets are even welcome at the studio, too!
