I love offering at home newborn photography to my Minneapolis area clients. While I do offer posed newborn photography in my studio, having an in home session can be really special. It can also be a bit less stressful if having to leave your home when it’s 10 degrees outside with unpredictable Minnesota winter roads sounds a little daunting.
I posted previously about how this family had chosen to mix up with their newborn session with a combo of posed newborn photos in the studio and family photos at home. Mom said it just felt right in her heart to have photos taken in the nursery, so that’s exactly what we planned for.
And just like his posed newborn photos, this little man was wide awake for the majority of his at home newborn photos. To be honest, I kind of love it. The interaction between mom and baby and dad and baby is so, so sweet when baby can make eye contact. He did eventually fall asleep towards the end of the session where I took some pictures of him lying on mom and dad’s bed.
Breaking up the sessions is a great way to get the best of both worlds. Being at the studio offers access to all of my newborn props, so we can customize the baby’s photos. Having family photos taken in the baby’s nursery offers that chance to document all of the details of the baby’s room (before the demanding toddler wants everything changed to Disney Princesses or Paw Patrol).
Contact me to schedule your newborn photos today! I’m currently booking sessions in May and for summer 2022!
