Welcome to

THE BLOG

Ya know, I don’t go on Facebook a ton. Between shoots every weekend, weekday editing and all the daily business “stuff” that goes on behind-the-scenes, plus volunteering at my son’s school, dishes, laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, blah, blah, blah…who has time for Facebook?!?

So, when I hopped on yesterday (because if I don’t every once in a while I have no idea what’s going on with my family these days), and saw my Facebook business page had been tagged, of course it spiked my curiosity. My website and blog (or blogsite) has been ranked WORLDWIDE at #60 for one of the Top 75 Maternity Photography Blogs & Websites on the Web!!!! How cool is that?

I’ve known since starting my business in 2011 that SEO and blogging needed to play a large role in my marketing for my online business because I knew deep down that social media isn’t my thing. I’m a private person, I like small groups, and I don’t like being front and center. To me, keeping up on social media feels like pressure and I don’t do well under pressure. I love posting and sharing for my clients that love social media, but for those that don’t, I offer the opt-out in my Portrait Agreement, which I’m more than happy to oblige.

I guess all my website work (100% done by me) and SEO and Blogging has paid off! I will give a big shout out to Clickin’ Moms and the SEO course I took earlier this year by Beth Wade (another photographer who is an SEO expert and fantastic photographer) that I believe really gave my website the boost it needed.

Thanks, www.feedspot.com, for the honorary mention!! 🙂

I’m super excited to share with you these images from my very first Fresh 48 Hospital Newborn session. In my 6+ years of being a Professional Photographer, I’ve never been asked to do one of these sessions before and it was so much fun! As part of their First Year Baby Plan package, mom and dad decided to substitute their 6 month baby photos for the in hospital session shortly after their little man was born. We also did their maternity photos earlier this summer and will have their baby’s One Year Session next year.

These guys had their son at the Mother Baby Center in Minneapolis, which is right next to the Children’s Hospital, a place I know all too well. I was able to make it down the Monday after they had him, in fact they were packing up and getting ready to be discharged and go home when I got there, so we got these done just in time. Luckily, they didn’t have too long of a stay at the hospital (I was there for 5 days!).

It was so fun meeting him early because a few days later we did his styled and posed newborn photos at their home along with family photos with their pups. He was a newborn photographer’s dream! He slept so good for me and pretty much let me do whatever I needed to. Those photos will be blogged soon, too.

Enjoy!

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted from a session! It has been a crazy busy year for me. My sessions have more than doubled from last year and I’m definitely feeling it! I just happen to have a day off today, which will be spent shopping for a new mattress and re-arranging the living room with my husband and son, but thought I could take a moment to get a blog post up.  Most likely you won’t find a whole lot of new shares on my Facebook page, since I’ve included a new opt-out option in my Portrait Agreement. I honestly don’t rely very heavily on social media sharing for my business anyway, so it’s not a big deal. My clients’ privacy is far more important.

This little man wrapped up his First Year Baby Plan with me a few months ago. His first year album will be getting put together very soon after mom and dad pick out the photos they want. Then it will be shipped off to them as soon as it’s completed. It’s so much fun going through all of the photos from the maternity shoot to the first birthday. I’m so excited to see which photos they picked out for the album!

Enjoy these favorites of mine from his One Year Photo shoot. No cake smash for these ones, but some fun balloons, a little splashing in the fountain and of course, the basketball. 🙂

Well, this is probably going to be a huge overshare, but I just can’t help myself. I love, love, love the photos from this maternity session. Not only was this couple super sweet and fun to work with, they are downright GORGEOUS! I’m so excited to work with them on their upcoming First Year Baby Plan. Baby boy is due in July and we’ll be starting off his sessions with a Fresh 48 Hospital session, followed by his posed newborn and family photos, and then wrapping up his plan with One Year Photos.

These were taken a few weeks ago on a beautiful evening at West Medicine Lake Park in Plymouth. Yes, it’s my go-to favorite spot for maternity photos. I’ve been using this spot for over 6 years now and it’s always picturesque anytime of year. And in my special little spot I love to use, there’s never anyone around, so it’s nice and quiet. On this particular night when we did encounter any park visitors, they were so sweet and kind offering congratulations (and a few honks as they drove by in their cars) to the parents-to-be.

Enjoy!

Summer is here, well not technically, but it’s definitely here! School is out, which means my little guy is home with me now. We’ve been staying busy with karate, birthday parties, play dates and the usual running of errands. I’ve stayed super busy during the month of May and into early June with many, many sessions. I’ve got a lot to share and blog about. This week I’m finding myself with a little extra time on my hands due to working a wedding last Saturday and a cancelled session on Sunday (thanks to the powerful thunderstorms that rolled through in the morning), so I’m trying to catch up on Facebook shares and blogging.

A few weekends ago I had 3 newborn sessions all in one weekend and this little beauty was one of them. I’m not sure what was going on that weekend, besides the all day downpouring rain, but my babies didn’t want to sleep for me. They all gave me about 20 minutes of good solid deep sleep, but then once they woke to feed or be changed, they wouldn’t go back to sleep. This little girl was wide awake when I left her home in Chaska, so I feel lucky to have gotten some beautiful poses with some good variety beforehand.

I just love these soft and feminine colors for baby girls. I think these soft pinks and creams are my new favorites.

Enjoy these favorites of mine from her session.
